This week Oscar brought in a huge bag of conkers for us. He had been out collecting them with his family and thought we might like them in Nursery. We certainly did like them.
We had so much fun with the conkers. We made a conker run where the children rolled the conkers down the guttering into the numbered buckets. We had so much fun trying to get them into the highest numbered bucket. It was trickier than it looks but we had lots of fun doing it. We also used the conkers in the kitchen area, to make conker pies and conker cakes and conker soup. Lots of conker dishes to enjoy!

Linked to the conkers we discuss the changes we have noticed in the weather and how many more leaves are on the ground now than before when we went on our first Autumn walk. So, we decided to go out into the school garden and grounds to see the changes for ourselves. We found lots of amazing coloured leaves so we brought them back into class to dry them. We were able to compare the colours, sizes and shapes of leaves. We noticed that each one was different.

We read a lovely story called Leaf Man. We decided to use the fantastic Autumn leaves we had collected to make our own Leaf girls and boys. They look wonderful!
