This week, as part of our 'Around the World' topic, we have been learning about camping. The children have been taking part in lots of team building activities to build tents and dens. This has encouraged them to dicuss their ideas and communicate how to arrange and join materials. They loved creating different encolosed spaces to relax and work in.

We made our own binoculars to take camping so we could use them when looking for different animals in the woods. We talked about which animals might live in the woods and what else we might see when camping. The children loved going on a sensory walk to the Sceret Garden. We used all of our senses to see what we could hear, smell, touch and see. We saw a different birds, plants and insects. We loved listening to the birds chirping in the trees. We could smell the damp leaves after the rain and we touched some of the plants and trees which had different textures. 

We have been learning about fire safety around campfires. The children loved building a campfire using twigs and sticks found in the school garden. We even enjoyed some marshmallows around their campfire.
