This week we have been learning about our senses.

On Monday, we explored our sense of touch. We used a feely box, where we hid items inside and we had to guess what the items were using our sense of touch. We had to feel and describe the items using words such as smooth, rough, long, spiky, bumpy, soft, fluffy etc. We then made textured pictures using different textured materials. We also explored sensory trays filled with aqua beads. We loved the feel of them. WE also made kinetic sand.

On Tuesday, we explored our sense of smell. Different food items had been put into tubs for us to smell. We could not see what they were so we had to use our sense of smell to guess what they were. Some of them were very smelly. The cheese was definitely the smelliest. we then made smelly paint using spices and shaving foam.

On Wednesday, we explored our sense of sound. We played lots of different instruments to listen to the different sounds they make. Then we played a game to really test our sense of hearing. We had to listen really carefully to an instrument that was hidden in a box. We could not see it so we had to guess which instrument was being played only using our sense of hearing. We made our own loud and quiet sounds using the instruments. We then made our own music makers in the creative area.

On Thursday, we explored our sense of taste. We tasted lots of different foods and decided which ones we liked and didn’t like. We used words to describe the taste such as sweet, juicy, sour. We liked the taste of the chocolate best. We then made a tasty treat for snack time using our favourite tasting things... biscuits and sweets. Yum!

On Friday, we went explored our sense of sight by playing games of ispy. We used our looking eyes to describe an item without saying its name to see if our friends could guess which item we were thinking about.

Learning about our senses is fun.
