During our topic Toys' and Bears' we have been looking at different ways toys move. We have been looking at toys with wheels that you can push and pull, toys with buttons or remote controls and toys that move in other ways such as spinning or gliding.
When looking at different wheeled toys, the children were really interested in a fire engine and loved playing with it. They made stories around animals that needed rescuing by fire fighters. We set up a little fire station small world play and the children loved pretending to put the fires out. We added other interesting items such as fire fighter uniform and helmets. The children spend ages using these resources. We took this topic further by learning about fire safety and what to do in a fire emergency.
The children made some wonderful fire engine paintings and models too.
