The story we have been reading is 'Jack and the Beanstalk', so we planted beans to see if we could grow our own beanstalk. After finding out what was growing in the garden some children decided that plants weren't growing in some areas because there wasn't any soil. We decided to investigate if the beans would grow without soil. We kept the type of bean the same, the plant pot and the amount of water but our variable was soil: one pot contained soil and one pot did not. What do you think happened next?
