Our school council have been busy again, and one of our council members came up with the idea of a clothing bin in school to collect unwanted clothes. As part of our curriculum we teach about the environment and our responsibilities as global citizens. Children learn about recycling and we want to make it easier for our children to do this. Our school council are trying to encourage children to show sustainable behaviours sending clothes to be reused and recycled rather than adding to land fill, and are hoping to raise some money in the process!
We have managed to find them a clothing bin and it is already on site, in our main carpark. If you have any unwanted clothing, shoes, bags, belts and accessories you can now recycle through school, simply drop them into the school recycling bin. This will be an ongoing offer. A huge benefit is that every time the clothing bin is filled, the school receive a donation!
School council have spoken to children in their classes and they have decided that they would like these donations to be shared between school funds and also a charity of their choice. They have chosen to donate some of the proceeds to The Ukraine.
Please spread the word, let all your family and friends know they can now recycle through school.
