NSPCC Assembly and workshop
We welcomed Cheryl (and Buddy) from the NSPCC back into school. She was here to remind us of the key messages from her earlier visits. All children have been involved in Speak out Stay safe sessions, with whole school assemblies and workshops aimed at upper KS2.
Speak out Stay safe is a session available to all primary schools in the UK. It aims to equip a generation of children with the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe from abuse and neglect. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a trusted adult or Childline. Cheryl, a trained NSPCC volunteer, delivered assemblies and workshops with the help of her Speak out Stay safe mascot, Buddy the speech bubble. Pupils were taught in a lively, memorable and child-friendly way. This supports our safeguarding duties and links directly to the curriculum. By the end of the visits, our children have felt empowered - knowing how they can speak out and stay safe.
Cheryl also announced the grand total which we raised through our sponsored 'Buddy's Big Workout' to support the NSPCC and their work. Our school community raised an amazing £1313.91. Wow! A huge thank you to all the children who took part in our fun fitness event and of course to all of those generous people who supported the cause.
