Investigating Trees

As part of our science curriculum we are learning about seasons and trees. We went on a walk to discover what trees we have growing in our school grounds. We found lots of hawthorn trees, ash trees and a silver birch tree. These trees are losing their leaves so we know they are deciduous. We also found a laurel tree and a holly tree which we know are evergreen trees as they still had lots of dark green, waxy leaves.  We sorted and described all the leaves we found, and we also did some crayon rubbings using autumn colours.  We will also go on a walk during winter to see if the trees have changed in anyway.
