As part of our music curriculum, Year Two have been listening to The Chain by Fleetwood Mac and John Adams' Short Ride in a Fast Machine. The focus has been minimalist music which is building layers of repeating patterns over a steady pulse.  We worked in two large groups to play copycat rhythms over a pulse. We then built on that by designing our own fast machines and imagining the 'tune' it could make. In pairs, the children then composed their own rhythms and used percussion instruments to perform for each other.
