To be introduced to their new English text, Vlad and the Great Fire, Year Two examined and described some burnt bread, courtesy of Thomas Farriner, the 17th century baker who is responsible for starting the Great Fire of London. The children used their senses to describe the bread and imagine what it would have been like to be stuck in the fire in 1666. The activity will support their diary-writing task.
