We learned to work systematically during Problem Solving Wednesday when tackling the Three Bead Challenge. We started off with three beads or cubes and had to see how many s=different numbers we could make by placing them on the tens and ones abacus. We could only make four numbers. Then we repeated the task with four beads, then five, then six and so on. We learned that by only moving one bead at a time, meant we didn’t miss out any of the numbers. We spotted a pattern and even made predictions about how many numbers we would make if we had ten beads! We also had a lot of fun working in teams.
