This week, Year 4 have conducted a science investigation. We started at the planning stage and worked out what the different variables in our investigation would be: including our cause, effect, and control variables. Year 4 then thought about what we would need to include in a results table so that it would show us the information we would need to answer our question... How do different substances affect the time it takes for ice to melt?
We then prepared our equipment and made sure that all our control variables were the same. This was important because each table had a different substance to add to the ice. While we waited for our ice to melt, we made sure to note down the equipment we had used before working together to write a method for our investigation. It took a lot longer for the ice to melt than we thought! The quickest was almost an hour, and the slowest was almost two!
