Beamish Trip

Our Beamish trip was full of fun, historical knowledge and coal ice-cream!

We took part in a workshop all about James White, a boy who was killed in the mine. We became detectives to investigate what happened to him and who was to blame.  We visited his teacher, a neighbour, a widow and the mine manager. In the buildings, we saw what is was like to live over a hundred years ago.

In addition, we went down the actual mine.  We wore helmets and our guide showed us what it was like: dark, cold, wet, small and uncomfortable.

Also, we visited the town, where the sweet shop was. We saw some sweets being made and also bought some of our own.

Finally, we got the tram back to the gift shop.
