Year 6 were introduced to volume this week and one of the first ways they learnt to do this was by counting cubes to represent the solid space that a 3D shape takes up. We did this practically using the equipment so that the children had a good understanding of this before we moved on to calculating the volume of cuboids using the formula: length x width x height.
