We started by researching existing products and thinking about their form and function, as well as what we liked and disliked about the toys. We talked about the fact that many toys help to support and develop both our fine and gross motor skills. We discussed what the form and function of a steady hand game would be and as a class, came up with a design criteria that we could work through to create our product successfully. We looked at past examples before creating our own 3D designs in small groups. Following this, we got to work: making and decorating the base and backboard for our product out of cardboard. We started by drawing and cutting out the net of a cuboid, then decorated it how we wanted, before gluing the net together to form our base, then adding our backboard, which will sit behind the wire of the game. Next week, we will work on our game wire and our circuit to finish our product.
